Two night events at Schladming 2013
As Schladming is gearing up for the main event of the 2013 ski racing calendar, the competition schedule for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships has now been confirmed newly, featuring two night events.
Besides the Nations Team Event that will be held on Tuesday 12th February beginning at 17 CET, the men’s super combined will take place in the afternoon, with the downhill beginning at 12 noon CET and the slalom run staged as an evening competition starting at 18:30 CET. Building on Schladming’s reputation for fantastic atmosphere at the traditional Night Race, these two evening events will allow the ski fans at the World Championships to also experience the magic of racing under the floodlights. The seasons’ highlight event will begin with the official Opening Ceremony in the evening of Monday 4th February and will conclude with the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, 17th February. An extensive programme of side events will help guarantee a great atmosphere throughout the venue and the town of Schladming.
The Schladming 2013 Organising Committee this week announced that due to sports technical reasons, the “loop” of the Planai Bahnen gondola bottom station which was initially constructed over the parking place and envisioned to form a part of the grandstand for the World Championships will be dismantled. This decision is based on expert opinions and thorough analysis in favour of a safe event.
