Swiss standout Alex Fiva announced his arrival as a possible top-tier contender by securing his first World Cup podium - a 2nd at Innichen - early in the 2010/11 season. He proceded to follow that result with two top-5 finishes, earning his way on to the Swiss world championships squad. However, a dissappointing 25th finish there followed quickly by a season-ending injury served to temporarily slow his momentum.
In the 2011/12 season Fiva has picked up where he left off before the 2011 world championships, taking two victories, several top-5 results, and maintaining a position at or near the top of the FIS leader board throughout the season.
