Martionod has had a remarkable career resurgence leading up to her recent triumphs. After stepping back from competition following the win of her first globe in 2004 to become a mother, Martinod returned to the pipe ahead of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, where she would go on to claim the silver medal.
After a couple of World Cup podiums the French veteran Marie Martinod came to rule the pipe in 2016/2017 capturing her career’s second crystal globe. Her overall win was remarkable not least of which was the fact that it came fully 13 years after the last time she won the title.
With 2017 Aspen XGames gold, Sierra Nevada 2017 World Championships silver as well as an impressive victory at the Olympic test event in Phoenix Park, she is without a doubt the one to count on also in 2017/2018 season, especially in February at 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.
