Competing on the Nor-Am circuit since 2004 and the World Cup tour since 2006, at only 27 years old Mike Riddle is a grizzled veteran in the youthful world of halfpipe skiing.
However, that's a very relative designation, and with his powerful style, laid-back attitude, and ever evolving bag of tricks, the man with one of the best names in the business seems to be doing nothing but improving with age.
While Mike took home gold from the 2011 Freestyle World Ski Championships in Park City, USA, it was in 2012-13 that he truly stood up as one of the biggest halfpipe threats in the world, landing in the top 10 in all five World Cup events entered and scoring two victories and three podiums on his way to claiming the crystal globe as the world's top-ranked halfpipe skier.
In 2013/14 Riddle skied strongly in the lead-up to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, progressing steadily before landing a second-place finish at Breckenridge, USA, in the final competition before the Games.
That result would be a good omen for what was to come, as Riddle was able to rise to the occasion at his sports debut on the world's stage and grab the silver medal under extremely tough weather conditions in the Sochi pipe.
