At the Palu Park, the German styler won the close battle for the women's title in the final of five with 75.20 for her second run.

The German skier thus edged off so far leading Elizavetta Chesnokova (RUS, 74.40) and Jeanee Crane-Mauzy (USA, 72.40) to second and third respectively.

The 19-year-old 2014 Olympian (rank 14 in the halfpipe contest), who had placed tenth in the slopestyle JWCh event two years ago, thus won her career's first title on the Junior Worlds level.

On the men's side of things, pre-comp favourite Wells, the second-youngest of the famous Kiwi skier family, also took home his first Junior Worlds title with 94.20 for his perfect first run.

Four years ago, on home soil and home slope, the 18-year-old had placed seventh in the halfpipe event at Cardrona Alpine Ski resort.

Joel Gisler (SUI, 90.80) and Kalle Hilden (FIN, 84.20) rounded out the podium as second and third respectively next to Wells, who had impressed with a sixth rank at the Sochi halfpipe event about one month ago.
