Unlike most of her peers who participated solely in gymnastics as juniors, Laura was also a strong recreational skier before becoming an aerials skier, giving her an ideal skill base from which she was eventually able to launch her World Cup career.
In 2012, Laura became the fifth Australian female to win an aerials World Cup event, taking victory in Kreischberg, Austria. Laura continued her success in the 2013 season, adding a further two World Cup podiums, giving her a career total of four.
At the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Laura finished in seventh place, a strong result at her first ever Olympics.
In 2015, Laura became the fourth Australian aerial skier to win a world championship, taking gold at the site of her first World Cup podium in Kreischberg.
With her strong technical base and a number of leading results already achieved in her first few years on the World Cup circuit, Laura will be one one of the leading contenders for a medal at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
