The Swiss moguls team gets some prominent support: after 12 years for the Italian team, Deborah Scanzio is back skiing for her home country.

Last Thursday, FIS confirmed the validity of the nation change.

As a result and due to her tenth rank in last season's World Cup ranking, the 27-year-old Tessin native earned the status of a national team member.

“I'm relieved and happy that everything worked out. I'm looking forward to finally compete for Switzerland after so many years”, she stated.

At the age of 15, Scanzio, who celebrated her World Cup debut in Tignes, France back in 2002, had changed citizenship to benefit from the better structures in the Italian moguls team.

Ever since, she represented Italy at three Olympics and also earned three podium finishes in 90 World Cup starts.

“I'm very grateful for the support by the Italian team”, Scanzio gave thanks. “Nevertheless, I always dreamed of competing for Switzerland, the country I was born and grew up in.”

She now aims to do well at the upcoming World Championships which will take place at Kreischberg, Austria next January.

The first World Cup event is scheduled in Ruka, Finland on Dec 13, 2014.
