24 year old Alizee Baron burst onto the ski cross scene in 2011/12 with a sixth-overall performance in her first season on the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup tour.
With three podiums in her first seven races, it looked like Baron was quickly on her way to becoming one of the stars of ski cross, cruising her way through the steep learning curve that sometimes confounds former Alpine athletes when they first switch over to the challenging four-racer format of ski cross.
However, in her second and third World Cup seasons Baron ran up against some adversity, struggling to make finals and often finding herself mired in the 20s. With a 14th-place finish overall in 2012/13 and a 15th-place result in 2013/14, the reality of the difficulties of ski cross seemed to have dawned on the feisty skier.
In 2014/15 it all came back together for Baron, and she was able to put together one of the front-to-back most consistent seasons we've seen on the ski cross World Cup in many years. Reaching at least the small final in every event of 2014/15, Baron recorded three more podiums - including her first career win, in Are, Sweden - on her way to surpassing strong competitor Fanny Smith (SUI) at the second-to-last event of the season for second-place overall.
With one more strong fourth-place finishes at the final race of the season in Megeve, France, Baron locked herself in at second-overall for 2014/15, establishing herself as one of the strongest athletes on the Audi ski cross World Cup and helping the French team stake their claim to being the strongest in the world with their win of the 2014/15 ski cross Nations Cup.
In 2015/16 Baron picked up right where she left off, rattling off 10 more top tens from the start of the season while reaching the podium four times in that span. A tough day at the test event for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games at Bokwang (KOR) would end her top-10 streak at 22 straight races, but Baron would bounce back to capture her fifth podium of the season at the final event in Arosa to finish 2015/16 ranked third overall.
