The silver medallist in the incredible French sweep of the podium at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Arnaud Bovolenta has been a steady presence for the French squad on the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup tour for seven seasons.
2016/17 has been the best season yet for Bovolenta, as he sits 10th overall with just one competition left in the season after scoring back-to-back podiums in Idre Fjall (SWE) and Sunny Valley (RUS), with his win in Sunny Valley the first of his career.
That victory, however, was bittersweet, as the glory of Bovolenta's win was immediately shattered in a freak accident after he crossed the finish line, as he got tangled up with German skier Daniel Bohnacker and crashed into the protective netting around the finish area, tearing his ACL in the process.
Being one of the strongest athletes on tour, there's little doubt that Bovolenta will be back and in fighting shape again next season. And there, hopefully, he will be able to regain the form that lead him to his fine results in 2016/17.
