  • After getting turned on to ski cross in 2002, it wasn't long before France's Ophelie David became one the sport's greatest stars. After winning three quick World Cup ski cross crystal globes as the best overall ladies' racer, and a bronze medal at the 2005 world championships, the Alpe d'Huez native went on to claim victory at the 2007 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championship, solidifying her place as one of the toughest competitors in the sport.

Since then, her domination on the ski cross tour has only continued, as "Ophie" has gone on to rack up four X-Games gold medals, one X-Games silver, two world championships bronzes, and a streak of crystal globe-winning seasons that stretched from 2004-2010. Were it not for an unfortunate crash at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games that forced her to settle for 9th place, she would have won everything there was to win in ski cross before some of the tour's current top competitors had even entered a World Cup race.

With 57 career podiums heading into 2014/15 (26 of which are victories) Ophelie is by far and away the greatest ladies' ski cross racer of all time. Her stats will be the benchmark by which all others are measured in the future, just as her poise, tenacity, and incredible talent are the benchmark by which all others must still measure themselves in the present, facing her in competition.

Because those up-and-comers still have their work cut out for them, as at the age of 38 Ophelie shows no signs of slowing down. In the 2013/14 season the incredible Frenchwoman registered six more podiums - including a win in Kreischberg (AUT) - and nine top-10 results to finish the season third overall. While she was again unable to win an Olympic medal at Sochi 2014, the 2013/14 season saw her prove one more time that she remains one of the great talents in ski cross to this day.
