  • After getting turned on to ski cross in 2002, it wasn't long before France's Ophelie David became one the sport's greatest stars. After winning three quick World Cup ski cross Crystal Globes as the best overall ladies' racer and a bronze medal at the 2005 World Championships, the Alpe d'Huez native went on to win the 2007 FIS World Championship title to solidify her place as one of the toughest competitors in the sport.

Since then, her domination on the ski cross tour has only continued, as "Ophie" has gone on to rack up four X-Games gold medal, one X-Games silver, two World Championships bronzes, and a streak of Crystal Globe-winning seasons that stretched from 2004-2010. Were it not for an unfortunate crash at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver that forced her to settle for 9th place, it seems a safe bet that an Olympic medal would be one more piece of hardware hanging in her trophy care.

With 51 career podiums - 25 of which are victories - Ophelie is by far and away the greatest ladies' ski cross racer of all time. Her stats will be the benchmark by which all others are measured in the future, just as her poise, tenacity, and incredible talent are the benchmark by which all others must measure themselves in the present when facing her in competition.

Because those up-and-comers still have their work cut out for them, as at the age of 37 Ophelie shows no signs of slowing down. In the 2012-13 season the incredible Frenchwoman registered four more podiums - including a victory in Grasgehren, GER - placed 3rd at the Freestyle World Ski Championships in Voss, NOR, and ended the season in 2nd in the World Cup overall points race.

With the 2014 Olympics in Sochi just on the horizon, don't think for a second that Ophie won't be hungrier than ever as she looks to lay claim to the Olympic medal she missed out on in Vancouver.
