Katrin Müller has to undergo surgery
AROSA, SUI - Though it was difficult to tell based on the kind of season she was having, Katrin Müller suffered cartilage damage in her right knee in the first Audi ski cross World Cup race of the season in Nakiska, Canada.
Müller, however, powered through the pain over the course of the winter, and as a result she was sitting as the second ranked skier of the current ski cross World Cup ranking before her announcement.
2013/14 had been her career-best season, with two wins (Val Thorens and Innichen) and several other top-10 finishes.
However, as her bone is now also infected, the Ariolo (Ticino) resident has been forced to end her competition winter just before her home event at Arosa.
Müller's surgery will take place next week.
“Of course it's tough to end the season right before the home World Cup but this will give me enough time to prepare for the next season," said the tenth ranked skier of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games.
