Austria's ski cross team broke fresh grounds in order to prepare for the new season and its head-to-head duels.

Besides some inline skating on a pump track course in Bad Ischl, world champion Andrea Limbacher, Katrin Ofner, Johannes Rohrweck, Christoph Wahrstötter, Thomas Zangerl and Co. also worked on their downhill skills in the Bike Park Schladming.

“As a pumptrack provides numerous rollers and turns which we have to face during winter time, too, the work-out helped to improve the motion sequences. Above that, we were also able to simulate some heat action,” said ÖSV Head Coach Gerold Posch.

Besides the pumptrack course in the Salzkammergut region also the downhill track at Planai served well for the team as ideal preparation playground.

“The course's character is similar to the those we have in ski cross. And as you can pick up some decent speed from time to time it means you have to be brave to bring down a clean run till the very end which is also quite similar to ski cross racing,” explained Thomas Zangerl.

With the off-snow training in the books, the Austrian team will head to the glaciers over the next couple of weeks.

The team's first highlight will be the Austrian nationals on November 21 in Pitztal before the season kicks off for Austrian Skicross Power with the opener in Montafon and therefore some home field advantage.
