Alfons Hörmann (*1960) was elected President of the German Ski Association in June 2005. Before that, he was President of the Bavarian Ski Association from 2002-2005; Vice President of the Organising Committee of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdort from 2000-2005; and Chairman of the Allgäu Ski Association from 2000-2002. He has also served as Vice President of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) from 2006-2010.
In his professional life, Alfons Hörmann was the Chairman of the Board of Creaton AG from 1998-2010, the market leader in the field of plaine tiles in Germany. Since summer 2010, he is CEO of the Hörmann Group which is based in Kirchseen/Munich (GER). The company consisting of more than 20 subsidiaries specialising in industry and communication has around 4,000 staff members and a turnover of approximately EUR 600 million.
Alfons Hörmann is married, has three sons and lives in Sulzberg/Allgäu, Germany. In his free time, he keeps fit skiing and Nordic walking, and is active in various voluntary positions, next to heading a non-profit foundation aimed at supporting sporting, cultural, social and religious initiatives.
