Dr Sung-Won Lee
Sung-Won Lee (*1932) has been member of the FIS Council since 2000. He is also former President and current Honorary President of the Korea Ski Association. In addition, Dr. Lee serves as President of the Asia Ski Federation and once served as Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia. He also currently serves as a Member of Advisory Committee, 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games Organizing Committee, Korea. A holder of a PhD degree in statistics from the University of North Carolina (USA), Dr. Lee was President and Chairman of Ssangyong Oil Refining Co of Korea for twenty years in the past.
He is currently a member of Board of Director, S-Oil Ltd. of Korea (former, Ssangyong Oil Refining Co. Ltd.), an affiliated company of world leading oil company, Saudi ARAMCO. He was deeply involved with Korea’s successful bidding of 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and now actively serving as an advisory member to the Organizing Committee of 2018 PCWOG, especially for the development of Korea’s first Jeongseon alpine Down Hill course in PyeongChang, Korea. He had been involved with development of Yongpyong, Korea’s largest ski resort situated in the center of PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, where he initiated the Korea’s first FIS alpine WC in 1998.
Dr. Lee is married and resides in Seoul.
