Dexter Paine

Dexter Paine was elected to the FIS Council at the Congress in Barcelona in 2014. A former ski racer, Paine is also currently chairman of the board of the U.S. Ski Association, a position he has held since 2006. He was president of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation, the fundraising arm of the team, from 2002-2006.

Paine also serves on the executive committee for the 2015 FIS World Alpine Ski Championships in Vail/Beaver Creek.He succeesd retired USSA President and CEO Bill Marolt. Paine was also named a FIS Vice President at the same Congress in 2014. 

Professionally, Paine has over 20 years of investment experience in the food and agribusiness sectors. Prior to co-founding Paine & Partners in 2006, Mr. Paine co-founded the Predecessor Firm, Fox Paine & Company, in 1997 and served as President from its inception until December 2007.  Previously, Mr. Paine was with Kohlberg & Company, which he joined in 1994 to establish and head that firm’s West Coast office.

At the time he withdrew from Kohlberg & Company to co-found the Predecessor Firm, Mr. Paine was a senior partner and a member of the executive committees of six portfolio companies. Mr. Paine began his professional career in 1983 at Bankers Trust Company in New York and, in 1984, joined its Structured Finance Group in Los Angeles, California. In 1987, Mr. Paine left Bankers Trust to join Robertson Stephens & Company to establish a leveraged buyout group for the firm.

Paine serves on the boards of directors of Icicle Seafoods, Inc., Scanbio Marine Group Holdings (Norway) AS, Capital Z Asset Management, LLC, Cevian Capital and WireCo WorldGroup (Cayman) Inc. Paine is also chairman of the board of the U.S. Ski Association.
