FIS Meetings

The FIS Technical Committees traditionally meet twice a year. The first meetings of the year are held in spring - during the FIS Congress in even years and during the Calendar Conference in odd years. The FIS Technical Committees meet again in the autumn where the customary location has become the Hotel Hilton Zurich Airport.

FIS Youth and Children's Seminar

Also on the agenda will be the annual Youth and Children’s Seminar with the theme ‘Ski Club Development’.

The goal of the 14th edition of the seminar is to provide National Ski Associations with best practices for their work with ski clubs to recruit young athletes to winter sports and provide opportunities so they can progress.

Speakers include Henna Sivenius, who will outline the coordination of ski club operations from the perspective of the Finnish Ski Association. In addition, Roberto Andreassich and Gerhard Schauer will provide useful insights from a club perspective.

 FIS Development Programme Workshop

As a follow-up to the introduction of the new FIS financial support system which was approved at the 50th FIS Congress in Cancun (MEX), a workshop with the theme ‘Introduction and Development of New Disciplines’ will be held as part of the Technical Committee Meetings in Zurich. It is open to participants of the FIS Development Programme Member Associations.

The workshop will include expert advice from the FIS Development Programme Coordinators Markus Malsiner, Sandro Pertile and Martijn Oostdijk, who will speak about the opportunities to take initial and/or further steps to develop activities in the disciplines of Alpine, Nordics and Freestyle/Snowboard, respectively.

In addition, the programme will include a briefing update on the new financial support system.
