Aki Musarato appointed with Tokyo 2020
Aki Musarato has been appointed to a key function in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games Organising Committee in the role of Executive Officer for Sports and Games Operations.
A director at the Japanese Ski Association, Aki plays many influential roles in the Japanese Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia, the Ski Association of Iwate and other sport organisations. He is well known within FIS where he serves as Chairman of the FIS Competition Equipment Committee and is a member of the PR & Mass Media Committee, in addition to the Committee for Advertising Matters.
Based on his significant experience in planning and preparing major sporting events, Aki received his appointment to the Organising Committee for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games. He served as Sports Director for the 1993 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Morioka-Shizukuishi, Assistant Sports Director for the 1998 Nagano Olympic Winter Games, and as Sports Director for the 2003 Asian Winter Games in Aomori. Furthermore, the year-round ski instructor and businessman successfully managed and directed numerous FIS World Cup competitions in various disciplines. The 63-year-old is also an active writer and author of many books on skiing.
