The 2017/18 Audi FIS Ski World Cup tour is ready to wrap up the season with Finals to be held in Åre (SWE) from 14th to 18th March 2018.

During five action-packed days of competition, the 25 top-ranked discipline athletes, along with the Olympic and World Junior champions, will race downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and the alpine team event to determine crystal globe winners for the year.

The Swedish Alpine National Arena, which will also host the 2019 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, will serve as the home for the highly anticipated last days of racing this winter. The Finals are certain to provide a good taste of what’s to come in 2019 along with a fantastic opportunity to enjoy Åre and ski racing at its very best.

The ladies’ downhill course will be used for the first time since the Championships in 2007 while the men’s downhill will be contested on a new track.

A number of changes have been undertaken to prepare Åre and the National Arena for the 2019 flagship event. The Arena House in the finish area has been extended to meet the needs of the Championships alongside annual FIS World Cup competitions as well as cater for the local citizens. The enhanced facility will provide sufficient space for the growing organisational needs and provide the athletes, visitors and officials with ideal conditions during both the FIS World Cup Finals 2018 and the World Championships in 2019. Most importantly, the additional facilities will enable various sport and community events and activities post-2019.

Battle for crystal globes

The discipline globes in men’s alpine combined (Peter Fill ITA), ladies’ alpine combined (Wendy Holdener SUI), men’s giant slalom, slalom, along with the men’s overall title (Marcel Hirscher AUT) have already been decided.

But decisions in men’s downhill and super-G, plus ladies’ giant slalom, slalom, super-G, downhill, and the overall along with the Nations Cup will be determined during the last week of competition.
