Audi - Sponsor of the Nordic disciplines Cross-Country, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined
With new collaborations, Audi will extend its activities in winter sports and the close cooperation with FIS. Audi is now the title sponsor of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup and the FIS Ski Cross World Cup, as well as a partner of the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup. The brand also will present the next two FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2015 and 2017. As a partner of 16 National Ski Association for decades, Audi is also on the side of international athletes.
Starting in the 2014/2015 season, Audi will be involved in other Nordic disciplines: Audi will support the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, the FIS men’s Ski Jumping World Cup, including the Four Hills Tournament as well as the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in 2016 and 2018.
All of the new contracts are long-term partnerships. The Nordic disciplines are nothing new to Audi. In 2003, the brand was a partner of the Four Hills Tournament and was also a major sponsor in 2003 and 2005 at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.
"We are pleased to strengthen cooperation with the FIS as part of our new partnership," says Giovanni Perosino, Head of Marketing Communications of Audi AG. "Alpine, Nordic and Freestyle - the variety of disciplines in which Audi is now present, is symbolic for us for the permanent all-wheel drive quattro. The quattro is in every situation confident, secure and sporty, an outstanding driving experience."
FIS President Gian Franco Kasper added: “Audi is an outstanding sponsor for FIS and many National Ski Associations and Organisers. We are proud to have such a loyal long-term partner that shares many strong values with FIS”.
Through partnerships with various national teams in Nordic Combined, Ski Jumping and Alpine athletes are regular guests in Ingolstadt at the wind tunnel centre. The TV commercial from the 80s in which an Audi 100 quattro unaided climbs up a ski jump, still enjoys cult status today.
