Canton of Grisons puts trust in St Moritz 2017
There was more good news for the 2017 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in St. Moritz (SUI) as the Council of the Canton of Grisons clearly approved CHF 5 million for the renovation of the Alpine Skiing infrastructure at the resort in its June 2014 session.
With 93 yes to 0 no and one abstention, the vote was a clear indication of the support and confidence that the local government has in the 2017 FIS World Championships.
The Local Organising Committee was pleased with the decision and is pleased to be able to count on the support at the government level for the FIS World Championships.
The FIS World Ski Championships is one of the biggest events in the Canton Grisons in the next few years. The improvements that were approved in the most recent session will not only aid in hosting the FIS World Championships, but will also serve to better the infrastructure for future events and to serve as a catalyst to promote tourism in the region. The Grisons brand will be strengthened not only through hosting a top FIS World Championship, but also through the addition of quality infrastructure, which will attract guests and significantly strengthen the local winter tourism.
