The 2014 FIS Australia / New Zealand Cup (ANC) for Cross-Country Skiing got underway on 2nd-3rd August at Perisher Valley (AUS). The ANC is the opening Continental Cup Series for the 2014/15 season, consisting of five events in Australia and three in New Zealand throughout August.

Three different nationalities topped the podium in the opening four races. Australian Winter Olympians, Esther Bottomley and Phillip Bellingham won the classic sprint, Barbara Jezersek (SLO) won the 5 km freestyle and Valerio Leccardi (SUI) took the 10 km freestyle win.

Snow conditions in Australia have been excellent this season, with well over a metre of snow falling at the major ski resorts during July, and plenty of successful club competitions staged.

The ANC moves to New Zealand for three days of racing at the Snow Farm from 7th-10th August in the events of mass start classic, freestyle sprint, and interval start freestyle. The ANC concludes with the Kangaroo Hoppet at Falls Creek (AUS) on 23rd August.
