Due to the injuries which reigning Olympic Snowboard Cross Champion Tanja Frieden (SUI) suffered in yesterday's time trials for today's fifth sbx race of the 2010 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup season taking place in Stoneham, Quebec, Canada, the 33-years-old athlete's winter is done.

Frieden not only dislocated her left shoulder but also tore both Achilles tendons. The Thun resident who has won one World Cup race so far (Sierra Nevada, ESP, 2005) commentated the shockinig diagnosis: "I cannot find any words for this situation. It's a hard diagnosis with only two weeks to go to my big dream - the Olympics."

Second top US-athlete also out in race for Olympic Gold

After Kevin Pearce had been seriously injured during a halfpipe training run a few days ago also his friend and US team mate Danny Davis sustained injuries which are equivalent to his season's end. Davis' injury is the of an ATV accident which took place Sunday morning in Utah.

However, he already underwent surgery to repair his L3 spine fracture. Doctors are confident that Davis - who has also already worked with physio therapists - will be able to fully recover.
