FIS athletes were well represented at the Closing Ceremony in Sochi as many were asked to serve as the flag bearers for their nations.

Out of 88 participating National Olympic Committees, an astounding 49 had flag bearers from a FIS discipline. The top represented discipline in FIS, and across all Olympic sports, was Alpine Skiing with an impressive 29 athletes carrying their nations’ colours into the stadium for the ceremony. Cross-Country had 13 athletes serve as flag bearers while Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing rounded out the group with four and three athletes respectively.

FIS would like to congratulate those athletes that were given one of the highest honours by their National Olympic Committees.
