With FIS Newsflash celebrating its 500th edition on 9th July 2014, it is the perfect time to take a look back at where it all started.

Just under ten years ago, the FIS Newsflash made its debut on 15th December 2004. Looking back at the first-ever edition it is clear that the Newsflash has come a long way.

On its debut, the Newsflash was sent out as a PDF document with strictly two columns of text informing readers of the latest news in the FIS Family. The biggest news communicated in the inaugural edition was the introduction of a Nations Team Event at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships to 'bring a new dimension to Alpine Skiing.'

Today, the FIS Newsflash counts a readership of more than 10'000 people and is sent out every Wednesday as fully integrated part of the FIS website with photos and links that feature different sections of news around the world of skiing.

FIS would like to take this opportunity to thank the committed readership and all who have contributed to the FIS Newsflash the last 500 editions.

We hope you enjoy this picture gallery providing a glimpse of how the Newsflash has evolved over the years:

Any feedback is greatly appreciated at and will help us to improve future editions.
