Last week, from 25th – 27th July Sollefteå, (SWE) hosted the FIS Rollerski World Cup as third stop on the 2014 calendar. Three competitions were held from Friday to Sunday.

The competition programme started on Friday with a free technique sprint in the town of Sollefteå. Ulyana Gavrilova (RUS) won the ladies’ competition and Emanuele Becchis (ITA) was the quickest among the men.

Saturday featured a 4.5 km l uphill race in classical technique. Marika Sundin led the Swedish powerhouse to the triple victory and won the ladies’ competition ahead of compatriots Linn Sömskar and Britta Johansson Norgren.

The men’s competition of the same distance was also under the full control of home athletes. Marcus Johansson topped the podium ahead of Anton Lindblad and Robin Norum.

The FIS Rollerski World Cup in Sollefteå ended on Sunday, 27th July with an interval start competition in free technique.

Marika Sundin earned her second victory as she dominated the ladies’ 15 km free while the men’s competition over 20 km free saw another trophy for a Swedish skier. Anton Lindblad seized a second podium of the weekend and a first victory.

After three of six stages, Ksenia Konohova (RUS) and Marcus Johansson (SWE) are currently leading the overall rankings.

The venues of Salzburg (AUT) and Trollhättan (SWE) are next on the schedule before the FIS Rollerski World Cup calendar will end in Val di Fiemme (ITA) from 19th – 21st September.
