A Technical Delegates (TDs) seminar for Alpine Skiing took place last weekend in Barcelona (ESP). The seminar brought together 150 TDs from Spain, Andorra, France and Italy to receive updates about rules changes including the new starting order in downhill and compare practical experiences from the past seasons.

As part of the meeting, video material was presented on how to instruct slip crews, dye teams and gate keepers.

Additionally, Italian supplier Liski, which is providing a range of products to aid ski slope preparation, maintenance and equipment provided information about the use of safety equipment and test standards.

The seminar was rounded out by a lecture about safety and decision-making processes in aviation by the French Air Force which was transferred to comparable situations in Alpine Skiing.

“The Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation represented by its President, May Peus and TD Commissioner Enrique Diaz provided perfect organisation for the TD Seminar which gave each nation space for individual input and transfer of knowledge”, summarised Walter Vogel, Chairman of the FIS Sub-Committee for Alpine Technical Delegates.
