Happy New Year 2014!
FIS would like to extend warm wishes to the ski and snowboard family for a Happy New Year with much joy taking part in, organising and watching FIS events!
The New Year will see both the second half of the 2013/14 FIS World Cup season in the different disciplines in addition to the much anticipated Olympic Winter Games in Sochi (RUS).
While the Games certainly represent a highlight for athletes, teams, media and fans alike, another six FIS World Championships will round up the highlight-filled calendar:
FIS Ski Flying World Championships: 14th-16th March in Harrachov (CZE)
FIS Junior World Championships:
- Nordics: 27th January – 2nd February in Val di Fiemme (ITA)
- Alpine Skiing: 26th February to 6th March in Jasna (SVK)
- Freestyle Skiing, Snowboard: 26th March – 5th April in Valmalenco (ITA)
- Telemark: 22nd-24th March in Geilo (NOR)
Besides the competitions, the month of January will feature the third edition of FIS World Snow Day on 19th January 2014. The annual snow festival for children and families is forecast to reach another record participation.
2014 will also see the 49th edition of the International Ski Congress where the extended global FIS family will gather to review the past and reach major decisions on the future of snow sports at the biannual statutory gathering of FIS. The Congress will take place from 1st -6th June in Barcelona (SPA).
