Trondheim (NOR) will enter the Nordic Combined history books as the first Organiser to host a winter FIS Youth Cup in Nordic Combined. In addition, it will also host the first-ever winter international competitions for ladies Nordic Combined.

A group of over 50 athletes, both male and female, are entered to take part in this next step of developing Nordic Combined. “We believe it will be very exciting,” Organising Committee President Erik Andresen said. “there will be athletes coming in from as far as USA and Russia to compete, in addition to multiple European countries. We wanted to be a part of raising the interest for Nordic Combined for both boys and girls.”

Seven nations are sending athletes to Trondheim to take part in the two competitions on 11th and 12th March: Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Russia, USA and Norway. Some of the names in the starting field are already well-known from the Youth Cup in Oberstdorf (GER) last summer.

The first-ever ladies champion Timna Moser (AUT) will be accompanied by teammate Lisa Eder, who also won one age category of the ladies’ premiere at the OPA Games in Seefeld (AUT). Andreas Ilves (EST) and Wille Karhuumaa (FIN) have also been on the podium in Oberstdorf last summer. For the Norwegian home team, Silje Opseth finished n Oberstdorf too and will be in the fight for more top results.

Training for all sides of the future of the discipline

The junior athletes can expect a big supporting crowd with over 2,000 school children taking part in the scheduled activity day on 12th March. Additionally, a press conference with young student journalists will be held to create a true international competition feeling.
