Under the umbrella of the FIS Development Programme, a successful summer training camp for cross-country skiers was held from 3rd-12th September 2017 in Val di Fiemme (ITA).

25 athletes and 14 coaches from 12 nations* were able to train alongside experts led by Alberto Rigoni, former coach of the Italian youth team. Among the experts was former World Cup athlete Magda Genuin who inspired the young talents by her own success story and gave useful tips.

The programme involved intensive roller ski and strength training, focused on improving skills both in classic and free technique, which was complemented by video analysis. The teams were also able to combine their training and push their limits with mountain running and other activities in the region of Val di Fiemme.

Nordic Camp Coordinator Sandro Pertile commented: “During the ten-day camp, weather conditions were beautiful with sunshine every day and mild temperatures which gave the participants excellent training conditions. In addition, the camp included fun social activities to encourage group interaction and team spirit. We wish all participants much success for the upcoming season.
