International Cross-Country Skiing talents train in Norway
The Norwegian Ski Association invited 90 Cross-Country skiers from nine nations to Oslo and Lillehammer to train and be inspired for a future career in sports. The training camp is taking place from 8th-15th August 2014.
During a busy week in Oslo and Sjusjøen, athletes are participating in two training sessions each day. There are also motivational sessions, led by Norway’s best Cross-Country skiers. Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen and Eldar Rønning joined some of the strength training and roller skiing sessions to give tips and share experience with the young skiers. The importance of sharing knowledge is a key component during the training camp.
“We are very proud of what our Cross-Country national team has accomplished. It represents the best in the Norwegian Top Sports Model; hard work, team effort and dedication. But with this leading position comes an obligation towards our good friends in other nations where Cross-Country Skiing does not enjoy the same status as in Norway. And of course, we have a lot to learn from our international competitors. This is why we are inviting these young talented skiers to Norway”, said Erik Røste, President of the Norwegian Ski Association.
The international youth camp is a part of the “Heroes of Tomorrow” collaboration between The Norwegian Ski Association and Statoil.
