Introducing new FIS Council Members – Aki Murasato

The 2014 FIS Congress in Barcelona (SPA) elected three new members to the FIS Council for the upcoming two-year period, 2014-2016. Commencing with Aki Murasato of Japan, FIS will be introducing the new members in the coming Newsflash editions.

Aki Murasato (*1951) joins the FIS Council with impressive international credentials. 

He is currently the Executive Director of International Relations for Sports and Games Operations for the Organising Committee of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (JPN). In addition, he serves as the Vice Chairman of International Relations for the Japanese Olympic Committee.

In the ski world, Murasato has equally impressive experience. He is a Council member of the Ski Association of Japan in addition to serving as the Chairman of International Relations. He is also the Vice President of the Ski Association of Iwate. In addition, Mursato is a Council Member of the Japan Anti-Doping Agency and works on the Continental level as a Member of the Sports Committee for the Olympic Council of Asia.

At FIS level, Murasato is Chairman of the FIS Committee for Competition Equipment. He has ample involvement in the ski world, starting out as the Swiss Alpine Ski Team Attache at the Sapporo 1972 Olympic Winter Games. In addition he was the Sport Director of the 1993 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Morioka-Shizkuishi.
