As the official timekeeper for the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, Longines is launching a new project in collaboration with FIS: the “Longines Future Ski Champions”.

Reflecting Longines’ commitment to promoting sport among youth, the competition will take place in Val d’Isère (FRA) from 12th-14th December 2013.

Fourteen skiers under the age of 16 from 14 different countries coming from most of the organising nations of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup (Canada, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA) will compete in an exciting event. They will take part in a two-run giant slalom on the lower section of the Face de Bellevarde, the official slope for the FIS World Cup races.

The conditions and the timing equipment will be the same as those for the official races. The young skiers will have to excel if they want to have a chance to become the champion for 2013 and win a Longines watch, a trophy and a cheque for their National Ski Association to be invested in developing activities for young people.

Longines ambassador of elegance and Norwegian ski champion Aksel Lund Svindal will be the patron of this competition. On site, he will present the official watch of the season, a chronograph in steel from the Conquest Classic line which reflects the precision, technique and elegance of Alpine Skiing.
