Meet FIS staff members Julia Raths and Jolanda Bruelisauer
In upcoming editions of the Newsflash, FIS will introduce its office team located at the FIS headquarters in Oberhofen (SUI). First up are Julia Raths (GER) FIS Projects Assistant and Jolanda Bruelisauer (SUI), Assistant to the President.
Find out more about their background, their work at FIS and things they like to do in their free time.
For how long have you been working for FIS and what did you do before?
Jolanda: I have been working for FIS for more than two years. Before, I worked for an event company named Tuffli Events based in Chur (SUI) and for the 2009 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in Switzerland.
Julia: I joined FIS one year ago after finishing my studies at the FIFA Master. Prior to this I worked as a Footwear Merchant at Columbia Sportswear and as a Sales Advisor at Peak Performance based in Geneva (SUI).
What are your main tasks at FIS?
Julia: My main tasks include coordinating the various activities of the FIS Development Programme and the World Championships Transfer of Knowledge. Together with Jolanda, I organise the FIS Meetings such as the Technical Committee Meetings and the Congress.
Jolanda: I am delivering general assistance to the FIS President Gian Franco Kasper as well as to the FIS Council. I am also responsible for organising the FIS Meetings and the Congress in collaboration with Julia.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Jolanda: I enjoy the daily contact with people from all around the world in addition to the intercultural atmosphere at FIS.
Julia: I agree with Jolanda, the best thing about my job are the people that I get to work with; both at the office in Oberhofen as well as with colleagues from the different National Ski Associations from all over the world. Going swimming in the Thunersee at lunch time has got to be a close second.
Which languages do you speak?
Julia: German, English and French. Always looking for someone to practice my Spanish on!
Jolanda: Native Swiss German ;-), high German, English and French.
Things you like to do in your free time:
Jolanda: I very much enjoy doing different kinds of sport including jogging, hiking, and cross-country skiing.
Julia: I also like physical activity, especially skiing and hiking as well as newer trend sports such as slack-lining. Next to sports I enjoy travelling and discovering new cultures through their food and music.
