With less than 100 days until the start of the Olympic Winter Games 2018 in PyeongChang (KOR), FIS Newsflash in collaboration with the Olympic Channel, will relive the most memorable sport moments from the past Olympics in Sochi (RUS).

The first featured gold medal events in the new series are ladies’ ski jumping and men’s skiathlon.

In the first ladies’ ski jumping competition in Olympic history, 22-year-old Carina Vogt (GER) won the historic gold medal despite never having won a World Cup competition. The battle was expected to be between Sara Takanashi (JPN) and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT). With her outstanding performance, however, Vogt now owns the most important medal in her sport.

In Cross-Country Skiing, not many would have predicted two Olympic gold medals for Dario Cologna. Switzerland's superstar, who had been sidelined since November 2013 due to ankle surgery, took his first gold medal of the Sochi Games in skiathlon and also dominated the 15km classic. Cologna became only the eighth athlete in any sport to successfully defend his Vancouver 2010 title in Sochi.
