With the FIS Ski and Snowboard World Cup big air in Milan (ITA) on 11th-12th November 2016, the new ‘Super Series’ will be launched to present and highlight the extraordinary skills of the world’s best big air athletes in Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard.

150 male and female athletes from 20 nations are expected to compete in the newly created series which, besides Milan, consists of stops in Moenchengladbach (GER) on 2nd and 3rd December 2016 and Quebec City (CAN) from 9th-11th February 2017.

After these city events, the best male and female free skiers and riders will be crowned champions of the tour. They will compete in a three-run final format at each of the big air FIS World Cup events, in which the best two runs count.

“This new series will make a tremendous contribution to the development of ski and snowboard big air competitions which is especially exciting as snowboard big air will debut as an Olympic sport in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. We can't wait to see this take off!” commented FIS Snowboard Assistant Race Director Roberto Moresi.

“The new grouping of competitions and the sponsorship ought to create a great amount of interest in the new series. It’s a great development and the big air competitions have really taken hold in the past twelve months”, added FIS Freestyle Skiing Coordinator Joseph Fitzgerald.
