27th January 2014 marked the deadline for National Olympic Committees to formally enter their Olympic Teams with the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee. The array of athletes includes returning medallists, rising stars, non-traditional winter nation athletes and strong contenders in the new events.

Comprised of 105 ladies and 125 men, the 2014 U.S. Olympic team is the largest athlete delegation for any nation in the history of the Olympic Winter Games. They will be represented in all 15 disciplines across seven sports in up to 94 of the 98 medal events that will be contested in Sochi.

With six new events being added to the Olympic Programme, many nations have entered their largest delegations ever, including Switzerland and Austria with 163 and 136 athletes, respectively. Also Australia will feature the largest winter delegation in its history with 60 athletes, and will have more ladies (31) than men (29) for the first time.
