FIS was saddened to hear of the passing of two individuals from the skiing and snowboarding family last week.

The former President of the Spanish Winter Sports Federation and FIS Cross-Country Committee Honorary Member Angel Baranda passed away. After serving on the FIS Cross-Country Committee, he became an Honorary Member in 1996. The entire Cross-Country and FIS family extends its sympathy to the family and friends of Angel Baranda.

Furthermore, the New Zealand Olympic delegation in Sochi was saddened to hear of the passing of snowboarder Hamish Bagley who tragically died in a car accident.

Bagley was a member of the New Zealand Team at the inaugural Youth Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 2012 and had been working towards qualification for the Sochi Olympic Games as a member of the official long list.

FIS offers its deepest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Hamish Bagley.
