Passing of FIS Honorary Member Odd Seim-Haugen
FIS was saddened to learn about the passing of its Honorary Member, Odd Seim-Haugen (NOR).
During his long career serving skiing, Odd Seim-Haugen undertook many significant roles to serve the sport and contribute to its development in Norway and internationally. Among his many roles for FIS he served with distinction as a Member of the Council from 1983 to 2002 including for a period as FIS Vice President, after serving as a member of the Eligibility and Legal Committees.
Odd Seim-Haugen's international roles in Norway included serving as Chairman of the Organising Committee for the 1982 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo, as President of the Norwegian Ski Association from 1982 – 1985, and as Honorary Member of the Norwegian Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee. He was also an arbitrator in the Court of Arbitrator for Sport (CAS).
FIS extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Odd-Seim Haugen, whose contributions and commitment to the sport of skiing will be long remembered.
