Right To Play Event attended by active athletes and skiing legends

The first of two events Right To Play (RTP) events held in conjunction with the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi took place on Tuesday evening, 11th February 2014, to celebrate the Athlete Ambassadors who champion Right to Play’s mission of helping children around the world learn through play. Active athletes, as well as past Olympic heroes and Alpine legends were attended the come-together, including former World Cup Champions Bernhard Russi and Andreas Wenzel, six-time Winter Olympian Marco Büechel and the retired Canadian skier Britt Janyk.

During the evening, Right To Play President and CEO Johann Koss spoke about the power of Athlete Ambassadors to inspire children, and the invaluable contribution they deliver to the organisation. Guests were also linked live via video to the field to explore RTP’s innovative programmes are helping to meet the needs of some of the world’s most vulnerable children in Lebanon and Jordan who are affected by the Syrian Refugee Crisis.

"Right To Play” cracks top 10 in medal standings

RTP Athlete Ambassadors Dario Cologna and Patrick Chan had medal-winning performances. Cologna won gold for Switzerland in the Men's skiathlon 15km Classic + 15km Free, while Chan helped Canada claim silver in the Team Figure Skating event.
A second Right To Play event will be held on 14th February 2014 at the House of Norway in Sochi.
