Stora Enso, a renewable materials company, has been announced as the presenting sponsor of the 2017 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti (FIN). Together, Stora Enso and Lahti 2017 aim to lead the way in promoting and supporting sustainable events.

The Finland-based company will build on its experience from the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun (SWE) where, as a partner, it contributed to the sustainability of the event in numerous ways, including the use of paperboard cups and climate-smart wooden houses for the race organisers.

“Sponsoring the FIS Nordic World Championships in Lahti is a great match for us because our roots are in the Nordic forests. We can contribute greatly to a sustainable event with our renewable materials: packaging, biomaterials, wood products and paper,” said Karl-Henrik Sundström, CEO of Stora Enso.
