One of the most well-known Cross-Country races celebrated its 90th edition as Sweden’s Vasaloppet welcomed 14,611 skiers for the start of the traditional race on 2nd March 2014.

The top of the standings was dominated by Norwegians as John Kristian Dahl won the men’s race. It was a close finish as Dahl edged teammate Joan Kjolstad by three seconds and topped three-time Vasaloppet champion Jorgen Brink by five seconds.

On the ladies' side it was Norwegian Laila Kveli repeating as the champion. Conditions were difficult for all skiers as the Organisers battled unseasonably warm temperatures and worked day and night to ensure the course would be ready for the massive field.
