Alessandro Pittin is Italian summer champion 2016
After a long while of not competing on the top level, Italian team leader Alessandro Pittin had a reminder of why he is called the Pitbull at the Italian championships in Val di Fiemme today. The 26-year-old won the title 32.5 second ahead of second-placed Armin Bauer. Lukas Runggaldier was third and crossed the finish line one minute and 12 seconds after Pittin.
In typical Pitbull-style, the day had not started well on the hill for Pittin who had to recover from a sixth place and a 46-second time disadvantage to jumping winner Michael Lunardi. Italian rising star Samuel Costa did not have the best day on the hill and only finished fourth in the competition.
Yesterday, the event for the junior athletes was held which featured Aaron Kostner as the happy winner. He beat Mirco Sieff by 9.4 seconds, followed by Luca Gianmoena who finished 21.7 seconds after the winner.
