Canadian summer national title goes to Wesley Savill
Wesley Savill added the 2015 Canadian summer national title to the list of merits on the past weekend.
In a joined jumping competition with the ski jumpers, Savill claimed the seventh overall rank, his 72.5 metre-jump put him into a joint leading position with Rogan Reid who landed at 73 metres. The third participant in the senior class, Matthew Polz only made it to 53.5 metres which put him three minutes and four seconds behind the two leaders.
In the 10-kilometre running race, however, Savill put himself firmly in the first position, finally finishing two minutes and 29 seconds ahead of Rogan Reid. Polz reached the goal a whopping 19 minutes and 27 seconds later than Savill.
In the junior class, four athletes started, three boys and one girl. In the end, the title went to Max Stretch who came back from a fourth position after the jumping event and a 56-second time disadvantage to finish two minutes and 26 seconds before second places Stephane Tremblay.
Nordic Combined lady Abigail Strate who had shared the lead with Sam Bolton after the jumping event came in third in the 5-kilometre race, finishing two minutes and 35 seconds after Stretch and just 9 seconds behind second-places Tremblay.
