COC: German triple victory in Klingenthal
Another great day for the German Nordic Combined team: next to Eric Frenzel's World Cup win in Klingenthal, the Continental Cup team took it all in Klingenthal today: Janis Morweiser took his second successive win, beating teammates Johannes Wasel and Tobias Haug in a finish line sprint. In the end, he was 0,3 and 0,7 seconds faster than Wasel and Haug.
After the ski jumping part, Wolfgang Bösl was in the lead, jumping 135,5 metres (131,2 p.). Gudmund Storlien from Norway came in second with 136 metres and 130,5 points. Johannes Wasel claimed an intermediate third rank by jumping 135 metres (128,5 p.).
In the race, a leading group consisting of five athletes found each other as early as the second lap who dominated the race until the end, working out a an advantage of about 50 seconds until the next following athletes. The German quintet was able to leave Storlien behind in the finish line sprint, the Norwegian finally finished as fifth. The German team completed their amazing team result with a fouth rank for Wolfgang Bösl, and ranks six, seven and eight for Philipp Blaurock, Andras Günter and Johannes Firn.
Janis Morweiser was over the moon with his weekend: "My legs felt a little heavy today but the two victories are just great! Our team result is completely overwhelming!" Runner-up johannes Wasel was also satisfied: "At the beginning of the week, I was not completely fit, so I was quite surprised how well my performance in the cross-country track was today. On the hill, I am in a very good shape." Johannes Haug was happy about his jump: "In the cross-country track, everything works for me and today, finally, my jump was also on a good level. I am so happy about the podium result."
