Due to the lack of snow in middle Europe at the moment, the Continental Cup in Klingenthal which was scheduled for this weekend had to be cancelled. "Our current weather conditions and also the forecasts for the weekend did not allow us to prepare the hill and the track. With a heavy heart, we had to de-invite the Nordic Combined athletes from all over the world", Alexander Ziron, Chairman of the Ski Club Klingenthal said.

Temperatures known from spring-time had melted the ice on the hill so that there were huge ponds of water in the outrun. Not even high up on the mountaintop track in Mühlleiten was it possible to prepare a race track with a snow coverage of 40 cm.

But some good news now: After some busy days of planning and many telephone calls, it can be announced that Klingenthal is not ready to let down the Continental Cup athletes. A new date was found and now, the Nordic Combined competitions in Klingenthal will take place on the 8th and 9th of February. Hopefully in winter wonderland conditions!
