The places in Austria’s starting quota of eight athletes for the first and the last stops of the Summer Grand Pix 2014 were up for grabs in a test competition in Seefeld last week. In the presence of ÖSV vice president Alfons Schranz, the following athletes qualified:

- Bernhard Gruber
- Mario Seidl
- Alexander Brandner
- Christoph Bieler
- Lukas Greiderer
- Harald Lemmerer
- Marco Pichlmayer
- Franz-Josef Rehrl

Veteran Mario Stecher wasn’t able to participate in the test competition for health reasons, Willi Denifl and Lukas Klapfer waived a SGP start in this summer. For the home competition in Villach, four additional athletes will comprise the national group.

Reigning SGP winner Bernhard Gruber is already looking forward to the summer highlight: „The Summer Grand Prix is the first face off at the end of the preparation time. It is exciting to see the other nations again for the first time and to see what has changed and developed. I wasn’t able to prepare optimally because I had a wisdom tooth surgery shortly before the training camp in Seefeld. But the test competition went well and I feel fit enough for the next SGP win now.“
