France and the USA nominate their Olympic teams
Today saw the nominations of two more Olympic teams, namely in the United States of America and France.
The USA are sending defending Olympic Champion Billy Demong (he is holding the medal from the large hill event), Bryan Fletcher, brother Taylor Fletcher and Todd Lodwick (despite his shoulder injury sustained in Chaux-Neuve) to Russia. It will be a record-breaking sixth Olympic Winter Games for Lodwick, who earned his nomination after winning 2014 U.S. Olympic Trials Dec. 28. He and Demong were on the team which made history at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, winning the first-ever nordic combined medals for the USA (pictured above).
The French team consists of defending Olympic Champion from the normal hill, Jason Lamy Chappuis, and his teammates from his gold-winning World Championship team of last season, Maxime Laheurte, Sebastien Lacroix and Francois Braud. A fifth place is still open and will be given away after the results of the upcoming World Cup weekend in Oberstdorf.
