French team narrows down athletes for first World Cups
French head coach Jerome Laheurte is one step closer to nominating his four athletes for the first World Cup stages in Scandinavia, as Nordic Magazine reports. At the end of a training camp in Oberhof, two internal test event were held after which the coaching staff named six athletes to travel to Scandinavia and fight for the four quota places of the French team.
While team veterans Francois Braud and Maxime Laheurte are already set for the World Cup, two more places will be up for grabs. The four young athletes fighting for these two places will be: Laurent Muhlethaler, Hugo Buffard, Geoffrey Lafarge and Tom Balland who claimed ranks three, four, five and seven in the overall ranking after the two test events.
„The young athletes will be favoured and therefore Tom Balland received the last spot despite a small advantage for Samuel Guy in the overall ranking“, Laheurte explains. „Next up now is a training camp in Premanon from the third until the sixth of November where we hope to ski on the snow in the snow storage. The flights to Finland are booked for the 17th of November.“
