Janne Ryynänen wins Finnish summer nationals

The new Finnish summer national champion is called Janne Ryynänen. He won the competition in Lahti ahead of llkka Herola and Joni Karjalainen. The Estonian Nordic Combined athletes were also starting in Lahti and Han-Hendrik Piho and his brother Kail actually claimed ranks two and three in the overall result of the competition.


Janne won with a jump of 120,5 metres, which meant the lead already after the ski jumping part, and a roller-ski time of 22:46.2. He crossed the finish line 46,2 seconds ahead of Han Hendrik Piho (116 m; 21:59.4) and Kail Piho (109 m; 22:12.4). Ilkka Herola showed the second longest jump of the day with 116 metres but wasn't able to hold onto his second position during the roller-ski race.

 

After the race, Janne was not only satisfied with his victory but also with his current shape: "It was a good race. The jumping and cross-country skiing levels are on the right way. Now I have a couple of months to get back to work and come back on an even higher level in the winter."
