Janni Reisenauer with last OPA victory of the season
Austrian Janni Reisenauer has taken the last victory of the OPA season at the season finale at Chaux-Neuve. After a great jump of 116.5 metres on the HS 118 hill, Reisenauer had 42 seconds of head start on the cross-country track and none of the strong skiers in the field were able to make up the time behind. Tom Lubitz came closest to following the Austrian and claimed rank two by crossing the finish line 9.9 seconds behind Reisenauer. Philipp Mauersberger took rank three, 11.1 seconds after the winner.
The ski jumping round saw Austrian Philipp Kreuzer on an intermediate second rank with 42 seconds of time behind on Reisenauer after his jump of 109.5 metres which gave him a total of 120.2 points. Tom Lubitz finished the jumping on rank three with 117.5 points and started 53 seconds after the leader.
In the race the 39th fastest time was enough for Reisenauer to keep Tom Lubitz at bay, for Philipp Kreuzer it went back to a final sixth rank. Philipp Mauersberger skied his way to the front and final podium finish from a ninth rank, setting the third fastest time of the day. Fastest man on the track once more was Paul Gerstgraser who unfortunately had to start from a 41th place after ski jumping but improved to a final 21st rank.
For the overall this result meant a sensational win by a one point margin for Austria's Fabian Steindl who finished as fifth today. Runner-up Terence Weber finished fourth but with 639 points, he would have needed 2 points more to hold onto his overall lead as Steindl accumulated 640 points. The overall third rank went to Tom Lubitz who held 431 points in the end.
